Issues Updating SCCM to 2002 or 2006

Hi there,

I hope that I have posted this in the appropriate space.

When I run the SCCM update, I keep getting an error under the prerequisite check "Check Server Service is Running" FAILED. It then jumps to the Installation where it appears to extract the update package only and then sit there stating the installation is still in progress despite doing nothing else.

Ideas? Any and all help is appreciated here. Thank-you.

Hi Jim,

Have you tried to check the complete description of the error.
Is there any services name mentioned in that description and can you check if the same is running or not.
As a troubleshooting can you try to update the WS OS with latest updates.
Before doing any troubleshooting make sure to take the snapshot so that in worse case scenario you can roll back to previous stage.
