Our server team will be performing an in-place upgrade from server 2016 to 2019 to our distribution point VM servers. Will I need to enable maintenance mode on each one just prior to their scheduled upgrade ?
thank you!

Yes you can do that. When you turn on maintenance mode on the DP, note that Management points don’t return the location of this distribution point to clients. If you performing this on a weekend when clients are not connected to DP then go ahead.

Thank you Prajwal. i guess my question was is it necessary and / or needed to place the server(s) in "maintenance mode" just prior to the OS upgrade? I've requested that the server team perform the work during the sites of interest off-hours.
I appreciate your time and support!

No enabling maintenance mode is not actually required. You know the DP is going to restart couple of times during this upgrade. So you can actually upgrade it directly by informing the business about this activity. Enabling Maintenance mode is optional.

Thank you Prajwal for your help and direction. This is a great forum you have created and i appreciate all that you do for others.
