Hi,

usually we install new clients with pxe boot. After that the client is registered with unique static SMBIOS UID.
Subsequently we can query a few interesting things like SMBIOS UID, computermodel, computername, last login, last logon user, primary user ...aso.

Sometimes devices changes users and we need to reinstall. Unfortunately for reinstall it is necessary to delete this devices.
After deleted this devices, the old infomation like computername, last login, last logon user, primary user about this devices are vanished.
Additional it is easy to delete accidentally clients and inventory got incomplete.

Maybe there exist a better solution? :)

You don't need to delete the device because you can always reimage a device. Even thought you delete the device from console, the database will still contain the details about the deleted device. Now i am not sure how you reimage a device. When you import the same computer in the configmgr, the database will mark the previous machine as decommissioned.

Hi Prajwal,

thanks for your fast answer!

Okay, our task sequence was deployed only on unkown computers. Just change it now to a new created collection, that is ony appropriate to reimage devices.

the database will still contain the details about the deleted device.
If I delete a device, its vanished in the device overview. In the sql database there is no entry as well o_O How can I find the deleted device? Or maybe there is a possibility to suspend the delete option.
