We recently had something come up this week. and i'm wondering if any of you have seen it.
little back-story. we are in the process of getting folks upgraded to Windows 10. If the user has an older computer they are getting a new computer with windows 10, fresh image. If they have a computer that is not that old and they are not eligible for refresh they are being upgraded to windows 10. we are using a inplace upgrade through SCCM for those folks.
anyways some of my co-workers (against their better judgement) have taken it upon themselves to upgrade folks from win 10 1809 > 1909. because they found that if they go to Windows Update they can pull the 1909 update. instead of just leaving them at 1809. anyways, half my team have upgraded to 1909 this way and they found a bug where if you try to sign out or switch user it goes to a black screen and the only way you can get the computer to show up again is to hold the power button down.
i have tried looking through event viewer. i have tried rolling back the video drivers. tried updating the video drivers. nothing. and its not like most people use the log off or switch user button. but it worries me that my co-workers have upgraded them to 1909 to be helpful, not knowing they created an issue that didnt need to happen.
