Have created an OSD through MDT and was using the name APP as Base variable name in Install Applications in TS and in the Collection Variables for collection I have applications as APP01 and APP02 and there application names.

During the deployment the first app comes up to install but just sits there. I have read to restart the computer after the install of ConfigMgr Client which I already had in there and also read in another forum to add a 180 seconds sleep after restart.

Using APP01 and APP02 variable I removed and now have the tick for install applications and still hanging. Just to note I have the tick selected for Allow this application to be installed from the install application task sequence action without being deployed.

I'm using ConfigMgr 1802 and have all the hotfixes installed. Had one yesterday (KB4342419)

Any help on this TS OSD would be greatly appreciated.

Basic question - May i know what are those apps and does those apps install when you install it from SC manually ?.

Hello Prajwal,

Thanks for responding to my thread.
Yeah, I'm testing one of the applications that we use and I deploy through SC
We are a consulting engineer company and we use a few CAD applications and they are Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014, 2016 and 2018 as well as Microstation but do not push that one through SC.

Autodesk is a complicated application when your adding addons like a LISP (Programming Language) and Productivity packs, service packs and there is also adding on WisDOT (Wisconsin Department of Transportation to push as well so it's 2014, 2016 and 2018 WisDOT for Civil 3D.

The way I deploy it is by CMD to retrieve the files on out server location.

I also just tried a simple install of GlobalProtect VPN that we use and is pushed out through SC but that too just sites there. I found this article here http://www.scconfigmgr.com/2016/06/...-mdt-integrated-task-sequence-with-configmgr/

I have that setup in my MDT task sequence and it seems to bring up the applications during the process but they don't install.

Hello Prajwal,

I keep telling myself look at the logs but I don't and need to focus on logs.
I looked at them this morning and what stood out was that I typed in the name of one of the applications wrong and thus why one of them failed. I have made the change in my TS using the Dynamic Application list and started another re-image of the laptop to see if it finally installs it.

It did install the first application which was GlobalProtect VPN so that is good and the fact I was finally able to get the Dynamic Application List to show up in the TS

Thanks for reminding me to look at the logs and will keep you posted if the Autodesk AutoCAD 3D 2016 application installs. The Autodesk applications as huge and can take up to an hour or more.

Chris

Prajwal you can close this as this was a Microsoft issue that has been resolved on their end. I have been able to successfully add applications to the TS with no issues.
