Hello all,
My SCCM server recently started experiencing issues with high cpu/memory usage from the w3wp.exe IIS worker process. I currently have 80% compliance on my windows update deployment to workstations but progress has been very slow. I believe we are averaging 1 client a day and started with a pool of 1400 clients. Only 215 clients still need the deployment but many of them are failing to scan with error 8024401c(timeout) and Windows Update Log shows "Windows Update Agent encountering transient network connection-related errors."
The server has not been updated in a while and I saw that there have been patches released by Microsoft for this issue. Could you help me figure out the best way to go about resolving this?
So far I have:
Performed WSUS maintenance including WSUS Server Cleanup Wizard, Re-Indexing the database, declining Superseded updates.
My plan so far is to stop the current update deployment
Apply the November 13, 2018 Monthly Rollup (KB4467697)
Reboot Server
Re-index WSUS DB
Redeploy updates to the workstations. Should I create a new group for this step or redeploy to the existing update group?
If this all fails, I plan to recreate the WSUS DB, but I have not researched this yet. If I recreate the WSUS DB, will the SCCM simply push the already downloaded updates through or will it need to download them again? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
