Hi everyone,
I'm starting to investigate an issue with SCCM Remote Control (CMRC) in our environment and would appreciate any guidance or similar experiences.
Environment:
- Devices: HP EliteDesk 800 G9
- SCCM environment
- Windows 11 (mix of 24H2 and 25H2)
- Recent BIOS and Windows updates applied
Issue:
We're seeing failures when trying to establish a CMRC session between some devices.
Error from CmRcService.log:
HandshakeWorker failed..
Unknown error (Error: 8009030C; Source: Unknown) CmRcService 09/04/2026 13:54:55 8824 (0x2278)
Initial observations:
- RDP connections work normally
- The issue only occurs on HP devices in our environment
- It happens specifically between HP machines (HP ↔ HP)
- It started after the November Windows update
- The issue appears more frequently on devices running Windows 11 25H2
- In some cases, connections between certain devices succeed while others fail
At this point, I'm still early in the investigation, so any direction, similar cases, or troubleshooting suggestions would be really helpful.
Thanks!
