hello,

Does anyone have an idea why the "Windows 11, version 24H2 x64 2024-09B" update is not being required?
All desktops and laptops are running Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise with patch OS 22621.4169 (from September 10, 2024).
We’ve been using the Windows Servicing function in SCCM to manage the most recent updates (23H2, etc.).

The Windows 11 24H2 update is enabled on the Software Update Point, WSUS and SCCM are synchronized, and the update has been downloaded and deployed for two days now.
But the Windows 11, version 24H2 x64 2024-09B is not required for my clients :(

best regards
Chris

Solution
Windows 11, version 24H2 x64 2024-11B seems to have resolved the issues, my clients are downloading it now with no additional input from myself. The ADRs picked it up and deployed it to my test group.
Even I did see the Windows 11, version 24H2 x64 2024-09B update in the Configuration Manager console. I guess it's still an optional update. Maybe a small wait is needed here unless someone from Microsoft confirms why this behavior.

I see the same here on my SCCM environment, it seems to be applicable to some clients likely Windows pro clients rather than Windows 11\10 enterprise clients

Is there any Solution for the Problem yet?

In our Enviroment we are facing the same issue some Clients are not required or unknown.

nope, same with the new update "Windows 11, version 24H2 x64 2024-10B" from 08.10.2024, the "24H2 x64 2024-09B" is expired.

Prajwal, you have maybe a idea? Same problem with "Windows 11, version 24H2 x64 2024-10B".

Check your registry on the client HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\\CompatMarkers\GE24H2

Should tell you if something is causing issues. On my vm it was moaning about the size of my disk. It was a vm and i usually provision them with 60GB. I extended it to 120GB. Which gave it about 70+GB free.

If it isn't there your appcompatscan is failing.
You can also check in the console by doing the below.
Right click on the device in console -start resource explorer then open hardware history should something upgrade in captials
It should tell you what is red.
This appcompatscan runs in the task scheduler under windows experience. I did try running it manually after increasing the disk then running the hardware Inventory scan but still no change. It is still moaning about the disk size. Weird

I see the same behavior in our environment as well.

I actually went a step further and created an Upgrade OS Task Sequence using that update. While the TS completed successfully and I cannot find any errors in the logs, the client remains at 23H2.

Thanks for the post. The registry "GE24H2" is not exist on my clients.

Free disk space is over +300 GB :).

Same here, ~1200 computers require this update on 9 300 compatibles...

the compatible collections are based on UpgradeExperienceEx inventory

Btw what is the size of your recovery partition?
But the fact you have some devices showing as required and some not is strange.. Are all your devices the same hardware specification?
we have about 60 different models... partition size uses full drive (minus EFI, recovery...)
most of the compatibles computers are running on W10 22H2, only 10 compatible ones are running W11 23H2...

we use only 3 different hardware models from dell :-).

HardwareReadiness.ps1 from microsoft looks okay, but we on win 11 23H2.
