Hi there, I tried to read if there is a current post regarding this, but I was not able to find one related to this.

As of 09/26/2024 we are no longer able to reimage computers at our site since the TS fails to complete and dies at the "Apply Operation System" step. After viewing the logs, I ended up thinking that its a rights issue since I keep on getting the "Download() failed. 80190194. ApplyOperatingSystem" error. I went into the properties of the "Boot Image" and into the "Data Source" tab and saw where the image path was. I tried to navigate into that path from within the servers RDP session, and I am unable to see the rights of folder. I am assuming that the folder permissions got messed up after KB29166583 was installed. Now, I went ahead and put my domain admin account back in the rights with full control and assigned the AD group with the appropriate permissions and still nothing.

Is anyone else having any issues after this latest KB?

Attached are the screenshots of the SMSTS.log from the computer when it errors out.

Just to add a little more feedback. As you might be aware, KB29166583 was release early September. It was pulled from MS after the release and then released again on September 19th I believe thinking that the issue had been resolved. Well, its not. It seems to be an issue with the locationmgr.dll file. This DLL needs to be replaced with the version prior to the update. If you do not have a copy of the previous version, you have to contact MS to get one. I am in the process of trying to get a prior version from them. I will let you know once I figure it out.

Hi!
I updated to the latest 2403 + Hotfix (KB29166583) last Friday, and now I can't do the PXE anymore on our devices.
Do you recommend contacting Microsoft for this?

Edit: Also the log here

Thanks I see you get the same errors, good and bad, at least I am not alone :)
anyway we have a primary site server and a distribution point server.
the DP had the Management Point role installed on it. So while waiting for MS to figure out our issue. I removed the MP role from it. waited, restarted both servers, installed the MP point on the primary site server, waited, restarted servers, started watching the smspxe log on the dp where and started a pxe boot from 1 dell device.
gosh it started working and has since last thursday.
MS say that from my DP that had MP role installed appears in logs to not be able to connect to the database stored and run on the primary site server. do not know why. if they figure out great, otherwise the MP role is staying on the primary site server. let me know what happens to you , thanks.
