SOLVED KB5037765 Windows Server 2019 May Update SCCM

From what I read online, there are issues with that specifc KB update. So you'll have to wait for it to showup in WSUS/ConfigMgr.

Here is the update from Microsoft - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ay-2024-security-update-might-fail-to-install

Windows servers attempting to install the May 2024 Windows security update (KB5037765), released May 14, 2024, might face issues during the installation process. The installation might fail with an error code 0x800f0982. This issue is more likely to affect devices that do not have the English (United States) language pack.

In addition to users encountering error code 0x800f0982, we have received reports that devices are failing to install the May 2024 security update with the error code 0x80004005. This error can occur even if the English (United States) language pack is installed.

Some customers also reported install errors for this update on Windows 10, version 1809. Home users of Windows are unlikely to experience this issue since the Home and Pro editions of this Windows version reached end of servicing in 2020. Only Enterprise and IoT LTSC editions are under extended support.

Next steps: We are working on a resolution that addresses both issues and will release it as soon as possible.

Affected platforms:

Client: Windows 10, version 1809; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019
Server: Windows Server, version 1809; Windows Server 2019

I'm seeing the latest update in WSUS but not in my sccm console. The WSUS shows it took a revised update on the 16th, but SCCM console shows the original may 14th patch.

Any thoughts on how come sccm isn't seeing the revised update. I've tried right clicking on the All Software updates and doing a Synchronize Software Updates, as well as removing the classifications, doing Syncronize software updates, and then re-adding the classifications we use, and doing the sync again with no luck.

I'm seeing the new update in SCCM but no 2019 servers reporting that the update is Required. And the update for this month is not already installed (previous or new KB) on the 2019 servers.

IanH, I saw the same thing this morning. Run the 'Software Updates Scan Cycle' and the 'Machine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle' for good measure on your 2019 Servers. The required number should refresh after a little while. You can then download the KB and edit the membership into your deployment.

Yes, i rebooted our SCCM server, and i did notice that once atleast 1 machine checked in (i did the steps you mentioned), when i clicked the "view required" in the patch details window, it showed more servers then 1, so it's just a timing thing now. Thinking the sccm reboot may have done it, but it's finally showing my 2019 servers properly.
