Hi All,

We have encountered a strange issue in our company.

We are using SCCM and Task Sequence to deploy computers with Windows 10/11 Enterprise. However, some laptops end up with Windows 10/11 Professional Edition (Retail channel) using the ...-3V66T product key, even though we use the Windows 10/11 Enterprise and Windows Enterprise MAK key in the Task Sequence.

Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Thank you!

Do you have KMS servers in your setup?

I am guessing that something is activating the devices with the Pro key before the TS activates the OS with the Enterprise key. In any case, review the smsts.log to see if you can find more details.

In the smsts.log after the image installation, I see only the following entry:

<![LOG[Setting product key.]LOG]!><time="10:37:13.635-120" date="07-23-2024" component="OSDWinSettings" context="" type="1" thread="732" file="osdwinsettings.cpp:495">

This entry appears in our Task Sequence during the "Apply Windows Settings" step.
