I am in the process of upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 using the following methods:

  • Task Sequence: Software Library -> Operating Systems -> Operating System Upgrade Packages
  • Enablement Package
However, neither of these options is working as expected.

I recreated the enablement package from scratch, following the exact method described here: https://www.prajwaldesai.com/windows-11-23h2-upgrade-using-sccm-configmgr/ . However, in the software, the updates are showing as "installing" for a long time with no progress.

I have checked the log files and did not see any issues.

Previously, I had configured a group policy to prevent upgrades to Windows 11, but I have now excluded the testing machine from that policy.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks for your response!

No I didn't see any error in the Updatedeployment.log file.

Earlier, I selected the profile below from “All Windows Feature Updates”. After downloading the update, I deployed it to testing devices. However, the installation got stuck with no progress for the last couple of hours,

So, I created servicing plans and deployed them to the same collection. After my lunch, I saw that the testing devices had upgraded to Windows 11,

When I checked the “All Windows Feature Updates”, I saw that the following profiles were downloaded,

Does this mean that I did not select the correct profile earlier?

Its an enablement package so the installation shouldn't take much time. I suspect its not installing even though the status shows as installing. Have you updated the device with latest security updates before deploying the enablement package? Also the language of the device matches with the update that you deployed?

Unfortunately, patch management has been handled by a 3rd party for the past 6 months, so i'm assuming that all our devices are up to date. Is there any way to check if the latest security patches are already installed on the devices or not?

I have taken another device for testing, but this time the device is in compliant status ("\Monitoring\Overview\Deployments\Windows 11, version 23H2 x64 2024-06B Status to Windows 11"). However, I don't see any entry in Software Center -> Updates, and the machine has not upgraded to Windows 11.

It looks like the Enablement Package option is working in my environment, but the overall process takes 4-5 hours to complete. I tested this on a couple of devices, and it took the same amount of time on each device.

For example, downloading the content takes about an hour, and the upgrade installation takes 3-4 hours. I believe this is longer than the expected time. Is there any way to troubleshoot why the upgrade is taking so long?

Note: I tested this process on a base machine that only has standard software installed, such as Chrome, Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader, etc.
